Apparently tomorrow is National Family Day. George Stephanopoulos just said it is a day to be sure to have diner as a family and know that it matters. How true. At Back to School night, some parents seemed a little nervous when I said I could tell who talked about politics and current events at the dinner table. It wasn’t said to be a negative thing, rather a compliment. Those students have a better grasp of what is happening in the world and have a stronger framework on which they can hang what they learn. Growing up, my family always had dinner together. I learned a lot at the dinner table.
So go low tech tomorrow night, cook that roast (or whatever you like :), and have a nice dinner together. I hope you have a great conversation, enjoy each other, and either continue a tradition or maybe start a new one.
